cuello con capucha...y reversible!

you are looking for the pattern in English? go to the end!

tenía rato dándole vueltas a la idea,
pero estaba un poco atareada.

I had been thinking about the idea for a while but I was a bit overloaded with work.

de cuello+capucha precioso!

Miso published in her blog  a design of a lovely cowl and hood

but I wanted something using more yarn
(I’m in love with hoods and you see so many scarves with hoods….
But actually, I didn’t feel like knitting a scarf!
Just thinking about the idea made me feel lazy.)

I’ve already told you in my earlier blogpost how much I like the design of this cowl,
which is very simple and has a beautiful result

así que tejí la forma del cuello...

Thus I knit this cowl

....le agregué una capucha....

Then I added the hood

y como no quería que tuviera costuras...
¡¡es totalmente reversible!!

And, since I didn’t want to make any seams, this is totally reversible!

I’m not repeating the photos here but one is right side out, the other inside out.

If I had had more yarn, I would have knit the hood a little wider
(toward the front, so it would cover more of my face)

Also I would have liked to add a pompom on the point (of the hood) but well,
I had just what I needed to knit the minimum amount...Maybe next time….

so we can take it as it is (or it can serve as a basis to design your own)
here is how I knit this
(be gentle with me, in case I’ve made some mistakes here)

materiales: -2 ovillos de lana Katia Inca (color 103- 100grs/100mts-
                 53% lana/47% acrílica)
                 -agujas circulares de 8mm
                 -aguja lanera

montar 70 puntos (flojos) y trabajar en redondo
vuelta 1 y 3= punto revés (toda la vuelta)
vuelta 2 y 4= punto derecho toda la vuelta
vuelta 5 a la 9= punto derecho
vuelta 10= (8 puntos derechos, 2 puntos derechos tejidos juntos) repetir toda
                la vuelta
vuelta 11 a la 14= punto  derecho
vuelta 15= (7 puntos derechos, 2 puntos derechos tejidos juntos) repetir toda
                la vuelta
vuelta 16 a la 19= punto derecho
vuelta 20= (6 puntos derechos, 2 puntos derechos tejidos juntos) repetir toda
                la vuelta
vuelta 21 a la 38= punto derecho
...el "pasa-cintas"....
vuelta 39= punto revés
vuelta 40= (1 lazada, 2 puntos derechos tejidos juntos) repetir toda

some directions in English ;)

this cowl (with hood) is worked from the bottom up, in stockinette stitch with a border in garter stitch (in the bottom and hood). also has a row on the neck with eyelets for put a cord and adjust it (or just adorn it)
For the cord, you can make a crochet chain with a row in single crochet, o slip stitches, or you can knit an i-cord...

let's start:

you will need: -super bulky yarn (218-300 yards)
-8 mm circular needle (US 11)
                       -tapestry needle
                       -stitch marker

abbreviations:

st(s): stitch(es)
k: knit
p: purl
k2tog: knit 2 sts together
YO: yarn over

cast on 70 stitches loosely, work in rounds ( you can use a stitch market to keep track of the rounds)

round 1 and 3: p all sts
round 2 and 4: k all sts
round 5 to 9: k all sts
round 10 (decreasing round): k 8 sts, k2tog, repeat until end
round 11 to 14: k all
round 15 (decreasing round): k 7 sts, k2tog, repeat until end
round 16 to 19: k all
round 20 (decreasing round): k  6 sts, k2tog, repeat until end
round 21 to 38: k all

to make the eyelets:

round 39: p all sts
round 40: (YO, k2tog) repeat until end of round (we have an odd number of sts, so one remains, but is not relevant...you can just knit it or knit it together with the last two sts)
round 41: p all

to make the hood:

row 42: bind off 5 sts, and knit all sts remaining. Now start working flat, in stockinette stitch, but leaving an edge at the beginning and the end of row in garter stitch.

row 43: k 5 sts, p until last 5 sts, k 5 sts
row 44: k all

row 45 to 87: repeat rows 43 and 44 (the number of rows in this part depends on the height required for the hood, so measure to know if you need more or less rows); on the last row, knit only the half of the stitches to seaming (I leave the video with which I learned to do the "grafting")
Finishing: weave in loose ends. pass the cord through the eyelets.

and I think that's it!
hope you like and enjoy it!
